Situated in Easingwold , the most southerly of Hambleton's Market Towns . Easingwold is a perfect introduction to "Herriot Country".
Easingwold once stood in the middle of the Norman hunting preserve of the Forest of Galtres. The forest has long since gone but the distinctive name is still used in the town. Only 1 2 miles north of York on the A19 , Easingwold was the first staging post on the road north and enjoyed great prosperity in the coaching era, boasting some 26 public houses and inns.
The cottage comprises of a double bedroom, bathroom with bath and shower, lounge / dining room and kitchen. There is a full range of electric al appliances including a washing machine at the cottage.
All local amenities are on the doorstep and there is space to park the car at the front of the property. Access to the bedroom is up some fairly steep stairs .
There is a good bus service to and from York city centre and the car park at Hedley House Hotel may be used free of charge.
To the east of Easingwold the land rises to the Howardian Hills, designated as an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. There are many attractive and charming villages to be discovered including Coxwold, the home to Shandy Hall, and Kilburn, the home of the 'Mouseman' Visitor Centre. The town is well located for holidays combining the attractions of historic York and local countryside.
