York Accommodation with

Hot Tub, Spa Treatments and Secure Parking

- All in One Place

There's a version of a York weekend that most people end up with. Nice enough hotel. Fine breakfast. A lot of walking. Back home Sunday evening feeling like you need another holiday to recover.

Hedley House is built around a different idea.

The Harrand family have run this hotel on Bootham Terrace since 1983. Greg grew up in it, watching his parents Graham and Susan look after guests, learning what actually makes a stay memorable. Not the thread count. Not the minibar. The feeling of being somewhere that genuinely wants you there - and has thought carefully about what you need when you arrive.

That thinking shows in what Hedley House has become. More than a place to sleep. More than a base for sightseeing. A place where you can actually come back from a day out and feel better than when you left.

Where Can I Find Accommodation in York That Includes Spa Treatments?

Hedley House has two beauty and massage therapy rooms on site. So after a day on your feet around the Shambles and the Minster, you can come back and hand the afternoon over to someone else entirely.

There's also a large communal hot tub. A modern gym. A hot yoga studio. Sauna and cold plunge. The kind of setup that most city-centre hotels don't offer at all - and that at Hedley House sits alongside your breakfast and your ensuite room rather than arriving as a costly add-on.

Most guests end up doing more than they planned on the wellness side.

You book the hot tub for an hour and you're still there ninety minutes later. It tends to work that way.

And something worth knowing about if you're planning a stay from January 2027 onwards. Hedley House is installing a three-person Sunlighten infrared sauna with red light therapy

Sunlighten saunas deliver full-spectrum infrared wavelengths - near, mid and far - alongside red light therapy. The heat works differently from a traditional sauna; it's a soothing warmth that goes deeper into muscles and joints, supporting recovery and circulation without the sharp intensity of a steam room.  The red light therapy sits alongside it, working on skin health - collagen, circulation, recovery - in a way that a hot tub alone can't do.

Three people can use it at once - so it works just as well for a couple wanting to share the session as it does for a solo guest who wants the whole thing to themselves.

The hotel is ten minutes' walk from York city centre and a short stroll from the River Ouse - good for a morning run if that's your thing, or an evening walk if it isn't. The city is easy to get to. The hotel is easy to come back to.

Are There Any York Accommodations with Parking for a Weekend Trip?

This one matters more than people realise until they're trying to solve it.

York is a medieval city. Beautiful, historic, entirely unbothered by the fact that it was built long before the car existed. Finding a hotel with actual secure parking - not a car park two streets away, not a vague arrangement - is harder than it should be.

Hedley House has it. Secure, off-street, included. You pull in, leave the car, and don't think about it again until you're heading home.

York Railway Station is six or seven minutes' walk away, step-free the whole route. The city centre is ten minutes. Everything worth seeing is on foot from the hotel. The car just sits there, safe, while you get on with your weekend.

For a lot of guests, sorting the parking is the thing that makes the rest of the trip feel easy. It's not glamorous. But it matters.

Family-Run Accommodation in York with Spa Facilities for a Weekend Trip

Mandy has been General Manager at Hedley House for more than 28 years. Colleen, her deputy, has been there 5 years. Michelle our head house keeper has been here nearly 15 years!!  When guests come back - and plenty of them do, more than once - they're welcomed by people who remember them.

That's the difference a family-run hotel makes, and it's genuinely difficult to manufacture. It isn't a training programme or a service philosophy written on a wall somewhere. It's just what happens when the same people care about the same place for a very long time.

Greg and Louise are still hands-on. The hotel still runs on the same principle it always has - that how you make people feel matters more than how the operation looks on paper. Warm, unhurried, personal. The kind of stay where someone asks how your day was and actually wants to know.

The practical side holds up too. Comfortable ensuite rooms throughout, with self-catering apartments if you'd rather have your own space. Hearty Yorkshire breakfasts. Evening meals. A licensed bar. A garden and drinks patio for when the weather plays along. Same-day laundry, secure bike storage, and packed lunches if you're heading out for a day exploring.

A weekend at Hedley House tends to be the kind where you get back home and immediately think about when you can come back.
